STERRE PAKKERT

CURRENT PROJECT: I UNDERSTOOD THE WORLD YESTERDAY, BUT NOW I FORGOT

collaborative artistic research project and performative installation investigating how human physical reality dissolves into digital representation. At a time when transactions of intimacy—such as texting, voice calls, and social media interactions define our daily lives, this project asks “what does it mean to remain humane within hyperreal networks?”

To explore this, we stage a direct confrontation between two figures: the Digital, which embodies our hyperreal networks and screen-bound devotion, and the Physicality, references pagan collective rituals as an act of resistance. The pagan figure serves as a reference for breaking away from the dominant digital environment. Resisting the expectations set by a digital world using raw, tactile material to pull us back into bodily presence. The project investigates the psychological and spatial tension between the audience's screens and the live body. By inviting spectators to text in a custom chat interface during the performance, we form a live feedback loop which feeds the audience's collective phone activity directly into the performance.
